Essential Stargazing Guidelines

1. Dark Adaptation

Allow 20–30 minutes for your eyes to adjust to darkness. Avoid looking at white smartphone screens; use a dim red flashlight instead.

2. The Lunar Factor

A full moon outshines deep sky nebulae and distant galaxies. The best nights for observing distant star clusters are during the New Moon or crescent phases.

3. Planetary Observing

Planets do not twinkle like distant stars. Even a basic pair of 7x50 binoculars will reveal Jupiter’s four Galilean moons as pinpoint pearls of light.
